While some people think that “13” is an unlucky number, a scarier number for the folks at GoPro is 8,934,045. This is the patent number of Apple’s new remote-controlled camera system. The possible product would compete with GoPros camera, being attachable to everything from helmets to to skis.
Although Apple’s remote-controlled camera isn’t on sale yet, the very thought of it caused GoPro stock to drop about 10%.
Of course, being the first to bring out an innovative product isn’t Apple’s modus operandi. They’ve often been way back in the pack, only to win in the end.
On the other hand, maybe the competition will spur GoPro to blaze totally new ground. And already Polaroid is out there with its tiny, bargain-basement price ($99) CUBE.
We won’t have to speculate about such things once Apple brings out it’s time-travel camera.
