Begun in 2018, the “Mobile Movie of the Week” series showcases short, mobile movies in all genres. Selections have come from around the world and all five continents. The series first goal is to entertain. But beyond that, the outstanding videos serve to demonstrate techniques, gear, and apps that anyone can use to create mobile movies worth watching. In many cases, interviews with the filmmakers take viewers behind the scenes where they can discover discovers about getting ideas, cinematography, casting, location scouting, sound design, and editing. In many instances, the filmmakers talk about challenges that they encountered during the production and how they solved the problems.
In late December, the editors of this magazine review all the weekly choices and come up with the Best Mobile Movie of the Year. The winner for 2018 was “Robot Attack” directed by Canadian filmmaker Brian Vowles.
