Hollywood has trained us to expect smooth shooting. The result is that few things will ruin a video project faster than shaky cinematography. You’ll see proof in the accompanying video which compares a handheld shot with the same action done with the camera on a tripod.
Engineers have attempted to come to our aid with image stabilization software that removes some shakiness. But it’s far from perfect. A much better–and professional solution—is to use inexpensive gear that will enable you to avoid the shakes even when you’re moving the camera. The most basic device is the tripod. You may need to spend a couple of dollars for an adaptor that’ll attach your mobile to the tripod. It’s money well spent.
As you’ll see in this short video, there are a number of other inexpensive devices you can get to give your videos the look that’ll win applause from your audience. Here’s wishing you smooth shooting.
