Here’s an easy way to add visual delight to your videos. Instead of keeping the camera at eye-level, try shooting down on your subject (high angle shot). This technique can be effective in just about any kind of moviemaking, for example, in a thriller, in a documentary, or in a music video.
Angling down may require using a ladder (be careful) or shooting from a window on an upper floor or from a high diving board. Another option is shooting from an airplane. (You may be surprised how many people in your neighborhood are private pilots who would love to help you with a video project.)
If you send us an interesting high-angle shot, we’ll post it so that others can benefit from your work. Simply email the url where it’s posted at Vimeo.com or YouTube.com to info@mobilemoviemaking.com
