Movie fans have an ongoing love for zombies. While “Night of the Living Dead” (1968) made the genre popular, there were a number of earlier examples including “White Zombie” starring Bela Lugosi (1932) and “I Walked With a Zombie (1943). Shot in Barcelona using a smartphone, Sergio Munoz’s “Halloween 2014” ably carries on the tradition.
A few film elements make the film worth viewing more than once:
- The use of practical (onscreen) lighting–the “head band light”
- The chase reversal
- The use of silence to heighten the tension
- The critical use of dialogue (it’s in Spanish but non-Spanish speakers will get the point)
The filmmaker thanked his cast in the following paragraph:
Gracias a tod@s!
