Adi Spektor’s “How to Rob a House” has won a Silver Stake Award at the International Vampire Film and Arts Festival. This short vampire comedy stars Dave Vescio as one of two inept robbers who (spoiler alert) break into a vampire’s home. The film is remarkable not only for its high quality acting, but also for its sophisticated lighting effects. It was one of the earlier smartphone-shot vampire movies.
In a MobileMovieMaking interview conducted last year, Spektor talks about what led him to shooting with a smartphone. You can read the interview here.
The International Vampire Film and Arts Festival is held yearly in Transylvania. And yes, Virginia, there really is a Transylvania. The Festival includes a “Mobisodes” category showcasing films made on smartphones and other mobile devices. Submissions for the 2017 Festival will be considered starting October 31, 2016.
