Just three years after the introduction of the iPhone, this 2010 short drama demonstrated the flexibility of mobile cinematography. Incredibly—as you’ll see in the related “making of” video— “Apple of My Eye” was not only shot using the iPhone but also edited on the phone. The film was created by Michael Koerbel and Anna Elizabeth James of Majek Pictures, an L.A. based studio devoted to storytelling using the iPhone. Beyond its technical achievements, “Apple of My Eye” showed that small mobile movies could attract huge audiences. It got half a million views within two days of being posted on YouTube.
