Accessibility is an old idea. Eyeglasses were developed in the 13th century. Hearing aids—ear trumpets—were invented 400 years later, around the time that a paraplegic clockmaker—wanting mobility— built the first wheelchair. In the early 19th century, Louis Braille developed a tactile language system that gave blind people access to the printed word. This kind of effort to level the playing field continues in the digital era as we see in “The Greatest,” an Apple promotion that shows some of the ways smartphones increase accessibility. Like all effective movies, the film is character driven, featuring a handful of people who are determined to live full lives.
The editors of MobileMovieMaking have chosen “The Greatest” as the Mobile Movie of the Week.
