The French filmmaking team of Benjamin Lapierre and Alexandre Gaudou is best known for its quirky comedies, such as The Interview and Supraluminique. While these short films—filmed on iPhones— are hilarious, they’re also visually delightful. Now, Lapierre and Gaudou have applied their photographic artistry to create “New York: Cinematic.” Techniques found in this cinematic travelogue include low and high angle shots, a frame-within-a-frame composition, dramatic close-ups, and the golden hour. There’s also an unusual shadow image of the Empire State Building.
