Seeking money to complete their film— “Unfateful”—the producers begin their crowdfunding video with a series of person-on-the-street interviews. They ask: “Is it possible to make a feature film using a smartphone?” Everyone answers, “No.” Then, to disprove that skepticism, the video presents a dazzling assortment of movie clips of the sort you’d see in a high-budget movie. Examples include colorful vistas, close-ups, car traveling shots, and—because it’s a thriller—scenes of violence. If seeing is believe, the video totally refutes the negative comments.
Anyone thinking about making a crowdfunding video can learn a lot from this one. Of particular value are the short comments by key members of the production team. Their knowledgeable explanations convey the idea that this is a serious production.
“Unfateful” is being promoted as India’s first feature-length road film shot using iPhone 7 Plus. You can find the “Unfateful” fundraising campaign— including information about the director Seby Vargese—here.
