What’s the secret of creating a great movie? Experts often proclaim that it isn’t the gear, but rather the concept and performances. For the counter argument—that gear does matter— take a look at “Right Up Our Alley.” This astonishing, 87-second drone bowling promotion simply wouldn’t exist in a drone-less world.
Behind the Scenes
“Right Up Our Alley” was produced by Rally Studios. The filmmakers were Brian Heimann (producer), Jay Christensen (drone operator), and Anthony Jaska (director). The video is one in a series celebrating Minneapolis businesses in the Covid era.
The video was shot using a JPI FPV (first person view) drone. To learn about this amazing device, check out the company’s three-minute demonstration video.
Details of the production—for example, there were 10 takes—will be found in a NY Times piece by Mike Ives. For the person-on-the-street perspective, you might enjoy skimming the hundreds of viewer comments on YouTube.
