The haunted house—with variations such as the Bates Motel—occupies a special place in the horror genre. There are classics such as “The Uninvited” (1944), “The Haunting” (1963), and “The Amityville Horror (1979). And plenty of contemporary examples including “The Conjuring (2013) and “We Are Still Here” (2015). But the haunted house has a modern rival when it comes to horror locations: the elevator. We’ve featured several elevator horror pics including “LIFT,” “13th Floor,” and “The Cloud.” And now, we recommend “Elevator Express,” which won the Under 16 award at this year’s Dublin Smartphone Film Festival. Samuel Cahill and Tao Bensoussan directed the film. Cahill wrote it; Bensoussan was the editor.
