SJ Van Breda is celebrated for her beautifully filmed short documentaries about South African artists. Now, with “Something Is Coming,” she puts the spotlight on the Nharo Bushmen of southern Africa, who struggle to maintain their core values in a changing world.

SJ van Breda first trained as a mechanical engineer. After working for two years in the aerospace industry, she switched direction, entered the Vancouver Film School, and has become one of the world’s top documentary mobile filmmakers. We’ve previously featured three of her docs: “The Secret Love Project,” “Symphony of Spheres,” and “Jane Digby.”
For “Something Is Coming” van Breda’s main camera was a Xiaomi Mi11 with the FiLMiC Pro app. The drone footage was taken using DJI MINI 2. The artlist.io music “Samburu” is by Hans Johnson.
