Telling stories on tapestries is a very old idea. Egyptian examples date back more than 3000 years. By comparison, the eleventh century “Bayeux Tapestry: is practically modern art. Over the centuries, the tapestry medium has dealt with a wide variety of topics including religion (“The Apocalypse Tapestry”), sports (“The Devonshire Hunting Tapestries”), fantasy (“The Unicorn Tapestries”), and war (“The Rape of Helen”). Pushing the content boundary, Scottish artist Andrew Crummy has created a tapestry about his encounter with cancer. The story of Crummy’s medical and artistic journey is being documented by Jon Gill. Here we present the teaser for what Gill expects to be a mini-doc series.
