Making commercials and public service announcements is not usually a labor of love. But “Extinction Rebellion” is an exception. As UK mobile moviemaker Cassius Rayner explains, “I was not paid/commissioned to shoot this video. I chose to get involved and share the message.” The short video documents activities in London related to the global environmental movement meant to motivate governments to deal with the climate crisis, biodiversity loss, and social and ecological collapse. In a season that has brought devastating floods to Europe and massive wildfires to the U.S., this PSA is more than timely.
About Cassius Rayner
We’ve previously showcased Cassius Rayner’s work including “London Falls Silent,” which was our choice as the 2020 Mobile Movie of the Year. Rayner teaches smartphone filmmaking at ScreenSpace (Met Film School) and London Film Academy, and is a guest lecturer at the British Film Institute. He shoots on an iPhone and comments that “a big part of what I shoot couldn’t be captured at the level I want and expect without the FilmicPro app.”
