A common storytelling tip is to build on a theme. Honoring that perspective, in 2021 the Dublin Smartphone Film Festival challenged filmmakers in 10 countries to shoot films illustrating the observation that “One man’s trash is another man’s treasure.” Australian filmmaker Kenny Foo responded with”Unplugged,” a  vignette about a beachcomber. The 90-second short—made using an iPhone 13—delivers the message with a series of cinematic close-ups of the protagonist played by Gary Boulter.
