Toronto Smartphone Film Festival is open for submissions

The Toronto Smartphone Film Festival (TSFF)  founded in 2012, will be accepting submissions from now until April 17, 2016. This is a juried festival, with the winners showing at the Festival and also on Korean TV.

There is no submission fee. Entries must be shot using a smartphone or other mobile device. While Samsung is TSFF’s main sponsor, any brand’s mobile may be used.

All genres are accepted. Running time is 10 minutes or under. You can find the online submission form and all the rules at http://www.smartphonefilm.ca/festival/submission

TSFF’s mission statement reads that the festival was created “to encourage aspiring filmmakers to share their stories through film, without having to equip themselves with expensive video equipment, training or field experience. In doing so, TSFF strives to maintain film submission and festival admission free of charge. As the only smartphone film festival in Canada, TSFF provides aspiring filmmakers, from all backgrounds, with an international platform to showcase their work and talent.”

You can find a growing list of festivals showing mobile-shot movies here.
