There’s plenty of evidence that facts alone don’t change minds. To motivate people to rethink their positions you need emotion. In the movie business that usually means story. We see this in commercials for selling cars, insurance, medicines, and just about everything else. In “Parametric,” Amila C Kumarasinghe creates a cautionary tale about the last man alive as a way of generating interest in climate change.
“Parametric” was shot in Sri Lanka for The International Day of Climate Action. The production team used an iPhone 6 plus (128GB model ) with FiLMIC Pro. The stabilization gear was the Zhiyun-tech Z1 Smooth . All shooting was done using available light with a reflector for some shots.
The film was produced by Livehearts Studios & Media Works (Sri Lanka). You can see more of their work on their YouTube channel.
The title “Parametric” appears to refer to “Parametric Determinism,” the notion that human beings make their own history.
